The Department of Technology Services is the delegated authority for the CA.GOV and STATE.CA.US
domains.
As a service to all levels of government within the State of California,
CSGnet provides complete DNS services free of any charge.
This means you
can request a domain under CA.GOV whether you are a city, county,
police or fire department, reclamation or water district
or any other type of legal government entity operating within the
state and pay no setup or monthly fees.
We will maintain your domain on our nameservers, or you may have the domain
delegated to your nameservers or the nameservers of your ISP. Of course,
there are always some restrictions, so please read our
DNS POLICY STATEMENT.
CSGnet clients may register and delegate to us any domain name they wish, under
any of the TLD names, ie .com, .net, .org, etc. These domain names will
be carried and maintained on our nameservers.
